『你現在看面前香爐裡的三根蠟燭，哪根最亮』
信徒說
『亮度都一樣呀，怎麼能看出哪根最亮』
禪師又接著說
『你現在拿一根蠟燭，放在你的眼前，用心看哪根最亮』
信徒嘗試後說
『當然是放在眼前的這根最亮了』
禪師說
『你現在把它放回原處，再仔細看看三根蠟爐，哪根最亮』
信徒說
『放問原處後，亮度都一樣，根本看不出哪根最亮』
禪師笑了笑說『的確如此呀』
信徒一臉茫然，『還望師傅指教』信徒說
『其實你看到的這三根蠟燭
就好比是你生命中遇到的女人
當你把它放在眼前，用心看時，便覺得它最亮
一旦放回原處卻找不到一點亮的感覺
所謂愛由心生，當你感覺你愛誰時，那是因為你把她放在眼前
其實這種愛，只是鏡花水月
根本經不起時間的考驗，到頭來終究是一場空』禪師說

『婚姻生活中
人們往往忽略了對方的優點
而誇大了對方的缺點
什麼才是真正的愛
能夠同甘共苦，相濡以沫，彼此包容，這才是真正的愛

信徒聽了
